Hello, I didn’t really like Miami. I’m writing this and I still have to spend two days here ; if I could I’d just cancel my AirBnb and leave. The problem is not really the obnoxious/douchey/touristy-everything (please check this video playlist to understand what Miami is about). I actually had fun trying to find famous French rappers on the beach, the water is very turquoise, the people are friendly, cuban sandwiches taste amazing, the museums are fabulous, Art Deco is fantastic, the diversity is incredible, etc. Henri and I went way outside of South Beach to experience it. Henri and I usually try to spend carefully on this adventure —some “office” days on a free campsite, we even manage to live with less than $5— but there is one experience for which we knew we were going to splurge: a visit to the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida. I’m not a real space nerd, but come on, you can not be indifferent to the fact humans are able to launch rockets into space and even landed on the Moon.
Last week, Henri and I stopped for a few days in Jacksonville, FL because we had to get some serious work done. It might seem obvious but it wasn’t when we left New York : if you’re trying out digital nomadism it’s easier to get some work done in a city, as opposed to a State Park or any remote area.
About a week after we left New York, Henri & I had the incredible privilege of being able to visit a special place in North Carolina, the Spruill Farm. We had stopped for a couple days around Elizabeth City on our way to the Outer Banks. Interestingly it is the birthplace of Edward Snowden, so I posted a “dumb” tweet with this information. I rarely tweet anymore ; I have the impression that I morph into a complete troll as soon as I log onto this specific social network… But this time I did post my “dumb” tweet and it was worth it.

If you’re an American or have been living in the U.S. for some time, and have never visited Charleston, South Carolina, stop everything you’re doing right now and just book a flight or plan a road trip there. I’m serious. I don’t say that only because I’m French and this city looks and feels like Western Europe with palm trees. They also have good food. It’s just the most beautiful city I’ve seen in America (I mean, America, the continent) so far and a perfect destination for a long weekend trip. It’s also very affordable.
